Past, present and future at the B&B Nonna Ita, in Santa Teresa di Gallura
If you’ve come across this article, it’s probably because you’re looking for a place to stay or a B&B in Santa Teresa di Gallura, Sardinia. Today, I want to tell you all about a Bed and Breakfast exactly in the town’s central square, with 3 comfortable and clean rooms: Nonna Ita!
WHERE IS THE B&B NONNA ITA LOCATED?
In Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, close to Santa Teresa di Gallura’s nightlife. During the summer months, many events and festivals take place in this square.
The B&B is on the first floor of a historic family building dating back to 1936. It overlooks the large square and you’ll be able to get everywhere on foot. Restaurants, bars, tobacco shops, banks, newsagents, pharmacies, churches, handicrafts and clothing stores are all a stone’s throw from the B&B.
The ferry for Corsica and other islands is only 4 minutes away. The beautiful beach of Rena Bianca, which has been awarded the European Blue Flag award for water quality and safety is only 5 minutes away as well.
(View of the main square from “Camera Margherita”. On the right, you can see the island of Corsica)
THE BED AND BREAKFAST’S HISTORY
When businesses are handed down from one generation to the another, the magic touch gets often lost in the handover. This is definitely not the case with the B&B Nonna Ita.
The B&B was founded in 2014 and housed in the family palazzo in honor of Nonna Margherita (hence the name). It was her who founded the first hotel in Santa Teresa di Gallura and her nephews wanted to continue the family business.
The current owner, Antonio Giuseppe Fanari manages the B&B along with his cousins Diego and Caterina. When I had the pleasure of meeting them, I immediately noticed their great emotional bond with the family’s history and the irrepressible desire to succeed. In life, in love, in work.
These are the people I love to meet. I could go on and on about all the background details but nothing compares to the excitement of getting to know such lovely individuals, so committed to a better future.
3 COLORS AND 3 ROOMS
I know that my personal considerations can only go so far, so let me get straight to the point.
The B&B comprises of 3 rooms:
The Margherita room (a self-contained apartment, with a double bed + 2 single beds, kitchenette and private bathroom, decorated in the shades of pink and purple)
The Aurora room (with a double bed, a shared bathroom located outside the room, decorated in the shades of brown, orange, golden)
The Angelica Room (with a double bed + 1 single, a shared bathroom located outside the room, decorated in the shades of blue)
All the rooms are furnished with simplicity and harmony. They are spacious, with high ceilings and they all have a private terrace where in the evening you can admire the nightlife below and the island of Corsica during the day. Each room comes with large windows, a flat-screen TV, air conditioning, mini-bar, coffee maker, linens, towels and free Wi-Fi. Upon arrival, each guest is offered a welcome pack, which includes coffee/tea pods, shower gel, and water.
AND WHAT ABOUT BREAKFAST?
Breakfast isn’t included by default with your stay. You can, however, purchase a breakfast card during your holiday, giving you complete freedom to plan your day. You can choose between 2 bars in the Piazza, depending on what you prefer:
For a breakfast with an international flair and a greater choice of savory options, there is “Il Baretto“;
Those who prefer their breakfast Italian-style can go to M’nm in via Carlo Alberto, 35 for coffee or cappuccino + croissant + fruit juice.
WHERE TO PARK?
Because of its central location, this B&B in Santa Teresa di Gallura doesn’t have a private parking lot, there is, however, a parking lot just 200 meters from the building.
In any case, I suggest you contact the Octopus Cooperative (whose office is located exactly under the B&B) which, as of 2017, manages the parking lots. At the time of writing, you can get a weekly pass for € 30 and you’re able to park in the surrounding area too.
LOW PRICES, HIGHT QUALITY AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL
The prices are quite moderate despite its central but this does not affect the quality of the services offered.
Diego and Caterina manage the B&B, personally cleaning the rooms so that they can help the guests as and when they need. Caterina has also decorated the rooms making each one comfortable and nice to stay in.
Guests can also take advantage of other services such as:
discounts for the tour of the islands of Corsica and Maddalena,
discounts for ferry tickets from any Italian port;
discount at the Il Girasole restaurant-pizzeria, in the Piazza;
discounts for stays longer than three days at the B&B.
One of the top B&Bs in Santa Teresa di Gallura, for sure!
